I’ve blown a hole in my keyboard

No. Seriously.

In the spacebar of the wireless keyboard of my not-quite-4-year-old HP Media Center PC.

I don’t pound on it THAT hard. But I must pound it enough – or it’s got some pretty cheap plastic.

Deb had a spare HP wireless keyboard, but it must be a different frequency, as it wouldn’t connect with my receiver.

I could swap the receiver, but … such a hassle.

This is what duct tape is made for – a tiny piece of duct tape over the hole.

These are not times to buy new PCs because there’s a hole in your keyboard, or it starts getting a bit long in the tooth.

It took a ‘dirty’ upgrade to Vista pretty well in ’07. Maybe it’ll handle Windows 7 in ’09?

We’ll see. Have a happy Fourth everybody!

  1. Hey Barney, I agree with you on 99% of your comments (nobody is 100%, including me) I only have one complaint, it is a pain in the ass to navigate when things don’t open in a seperate window. Scrolling down (or up) and I have to adjust the window. Very annoying. Can something be done about this? Please!!! Other than that I like every thing about the site. Keep on keepi’n on!

  2. OK, Steve, please be specific about what in our site does’t open in a separate window – are we talking the comments? Cuz they open in a sort of window of their own, and … like many things, I have limited control over the 3rd-party comment system.
Just let me know more and maybe I can at least make sure it’s on my ever-long wish list;-/
And thanks for the kind words!
